DJINN IN THE MIDDLE EAST - MILITARY ENCOUNTERS WITH SHAPESHIFTERS

In western society, when we hear of the djinn, the thought of a genie in a bottle often comes to mind. In the Middle East, the origin of these shapeshifting “nymphs and satyrs" seem to be in the deserts of Arabia and are historically feared by those who encounter them. Djinn are said to be similar to spirits. They are capable of possessing people, shapeshifting into different forms, both human and animal, and significantly are known for their ability to turn invisible.

There are several various types of djinns, one such being the ghoul - a vile looking humanoid known as a goblin, demon and devil. It's a shapeshifter and can take on the form of men, cats, horses, asses, camels, bulls, owls and that of a multi-colored dog. They can take on a human appearance in order to lure its victims away from their path and into its trap. Female ghulas are said to lure travelers away, seduce them, and even having sexual relations with the men.
