A Timeless Prayer- The Lord's Prayer

In Luke 11 1-13, a disciple asked Jesus - 'How should we pray?' Jesus answered by reciting a prayer to them which covered all the bases. It is a timeless prayer- one that is as relevant today as it was then.

This prayer glorifies God and speaks of bringing His kingdom and will to the earth. It speaks of the love of a Father who makes sure that His children have enough food for everyday living.

A Father whose wish is for His children to be free of debts and wrongdoing. However, along with this freedom, it is noted that in turn, we should have a correct mindset also forgiving others of their debts and wrongdoings towards us.

The importance of having a strong moral compass is also emphasised. The prayer explains that we should not be led astray and tempted by the enemy but instead, we should be delivered from all evil.

The prayer ends by demonstrating the power and glory of God's kingdom and His ultimate omnipotence.

Once we fully understand the living power behind every word of the Lord's prayer, we should pray it every day as there are no mistakes with Jesus.

If He told His disciples to pray these words - young men who were on the front line of the battlefield -  then, believe me, we should be doing the same!

A prayer personally sent by God to His people is a prayer we should not ignore.
