February 19, 2022 - There Used to Be a Ballpark Here: Payne Park in Sarasota

My brother, Dave Owen, and I stopped by the site of the old yard on my way to the airport. As kids, we spent a lot of time watching Chicago White Sox spring training games. The park was quite quaint and the players had to walk through the concourse to get to the clubhouse, so you could have personal moments with greats like Carlton Fisk, Harold Baines, Tony La Russa, Bill Veeck and Harry Caray.
