The 5 R’s of Repentance

1.) Recognition/acknowledgment of Sins
psalm 51:3-4
For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

2.)Regret for Sin :Accountability and remorse
2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

3.) Resolve: Change of heart and mind
proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

4.) Reformation: Change of lifestyle
Ezekiel 18:21-22
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

5.)Restitution: Correction of self and toward others
Proverbs 17:9
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; But he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returneth to his vomit, So a fool returneth to his folly.
