Meal Prep & A Word on Food QUANTITY

We all know in pursuit of our health and fitness goals we need to make better choices. We should look to eat real food, and consume a variety of ingredients that provide us with adequate nutrition and satiety.

As focused as we get with food type and quality, many of us vastly overestimate the amount of food we require. That includes some athletes and those attempting to gain and/or retain muscle mass.

A full bowl at Chipotle for instance, is well over a pound of food taking into account multiple scoops of meat, beans, rice, sour cream, etc. Without even doing a calorie calculation, that is a massive bolus to consume at one time. Remember, the GI tract has to mechanically and chemically break stuff down and then let the little guys have at the pieces. Our gut bacteria I’m referring to. That process takes time. A long time when you toss a football sized quantity of food in there at once.

If you aren’t seeing the needle move in terms of your health and/or fitness goals, try taking into account how MUCH you’re eating as well as specifically what it is.

8x scoops of steak and 4x scoops of veggies (pepper/onion mix) made:

3x Dinners: 5oz steak, 2oz veggies

2x Lunches: 4oz steak, 1oz veggies

I also prepared 6x 4oz celery packs from 2 packages

That gives me dinner tonight, plus lunch and dinner for Tuesday and Wednesday
