Cheney warns of ‘Putin wing of Republican party’

Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), known for her outspoken criticism of former President Trump, raised concerns about the rise of a “Putin wing” within the Republican Party.

She emphasized the crucial need to prevent its influence from returning to the White House.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Cheney strongly condemned Trump’s recent statements indicating a reluctance to defend NATO allies in the event of an attack by Russia.

She also expressed disapproval of Trump’s recent silence regarding the death of Alexei Navalny, a prominent anti-corruption and pro-democracy opposition leader in Russia.

“I think that we have to take Donald Trump very seriously,” Cheney said Sunday. “We have to take seriously the extent to which you have now got a Putin wing of the Republican Party.”

“I believe the issue this election cycle is making sure the Putin wing of the Republican Party does not take over the West Wing of the White House,” she continued, The Hill reported.
