Avdiivka Falls to Russia - Risk of Putin Winning the War Rises

Since Vladimir Putin started this terrible war against Ukraine in February 2022, the West has been certain their cumulative economic and military power would be sufficient, with Ukrainian army help, to ensure Putin lost the war. Now at nearly the two year mark and the loss of the city of Avdiivka, the risk is growing that the West may have badly miscalculated. Dramatic changes in policy are necessary for Washington and Brussels before the unthinkable turns into reality: Ukraine may lose the war and Putin emerge more powerful than before.
