Disclaimer: There is no promotion for personal benefit in this video. Glosa is a poetic form which has a certain repetitive pattern as you will notice. The magnificent Romanian-to-English translation was done by Corneliu Popescu. The Spanish, French, and German translations follow the English translation, not the original. So, was Eminescu a genius who, like Joules Vernes, predicted the future? Or was he and all of the "aloof and cold" philosophers like him the reason why 1883 feels so similar to 2024? Let me know what you think in the comments. "Have no hope and have no fear". This sentence, especially the first part gave me a headache. It is easy to understand the encouragement to be brave, but to have no hope? What did he mean? Is it because he doesn't trust humans to do anything right? And then I remembered that Barak Obama peddled hope as his campaign motto and, once elected, was only down from there. He bombed and tortured like there was no tomorrow. Do we have to have hope in order to become socially and politically involved? Or should we do it just because there is no other way to save our humanity and existence?
