In fact, without animal cells there would be no humans at all because there would be no primates. There would be no primates because there would be no mammals. But wait! It gets even worse. There would also be no birds, no reptiles, no amphibians, no fish, no bugs, no shrimp, no clams, no squid, no sponges, no jellyfish, no amoeba, no paramecium… the list goes on and on. Did you know that we are more related to fungi than to plants? Well, there goes the fungi…but what about the plants? Sorry, they’re gone too. So what, if anything else is left? Well, that’s what this video is all about: the ancestors of animal, fungal, and plant cells.
