The amazing and unique nature of Dagestan. Chirkeyskoye reservoir and Sulak Canyon

During the construction of the Chirkeyskaya hydroelectric power station, a reservoir was formed, which became the largest reservoir in the North Caucasus. According to experts, the water owes its bright azure color to the fact that the feeding sources pass through rocks containing copper. However, there is nothing critical here, it is clean water.

The Sulak Canyon is the largest in Europe. Its length is 53 meters and its depth is 1920 meters. The rarest species of plants and nesting sites of rare vulture birds have been preserved here.

The village of Dubki has viewing platforms from where you can take stunning photos. There is also a view point behind the hydroelectric power station.
