10 things to know, when visiting Petra 👇🏻

1️⃣ Petra gets crowded. If you are staying in Wadi Musa, get up early and beat the crowds to have a peaceful experience. The doors open at 6am, and that's the best time to arrive.

2️⃣ For your first time enter Petra through the Siq. It is a beautiful canyon - half paved, half cobblestones, that will get you to the most photographed site - the Treasury. It is around 30 minutes long walk from the visitor center. The walk is downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back.

3️⃣ Climb all the way up to the Monastery. If you have 2 days in Petra, do a Little Petra to Petra hike and avoid climbing up 900 stairs!

4️⃣ Wear good walking shoes! You'll hike a lot, and there are many stairs. Some of the hikes are easy, others are harder.

5️⃣ Petra si huge and has a lot to offer. Explore the royal Thombs, Great Temple, Monastery, Amphiteater, Sia … and other spots.

6️⃣ You can buy food and water inside Petra! I highly recommend trying their tea and delicious orange juice. There are no ATM inside, so bring cash with you.

7️⃣ If you get tired, you can get a golf cart ride from/to the Treasury, camel ride or a donkey ride.

8️⃣ Petra is on UNESCO World Heritage list. If you have time, visit a free museum next to the visitor center or hire a local guide!

9️⃣ Wear long pants and have your shoulders covered. It can get really hot inside so wear a hat and don’t forget to bring sunscreen.

🔟It is ok (and expected) to bargain for souvenirs, price to go up the viewpoints and rides. There are no ATM inside, so bring cash with you.
