These figures are on the rise due to the prevalence of fast food and the unhealthy consumption habits encouraged. There exists a harmful symbiosis between the fast-food industry and pharmaceutical companies, both of which are often owned by the same investors. They profit from making people ill with fast food and then offering medications to perpetuate the cycle of unhealthy eating. A cure is never the goal because it would disrupt their profit-driven model. It's a simple equation: curing the consumer means killing their business.
