Another prose poem, and the last of the Xiccarph cycle.

vicinal: neighboring; adjacent

lentor: slowness

meads: in this context, meaning meadows, not the alcoholic beverage

immortelles: this can refer to any of several varities of plants, but most commonly to those of the family asteraceae, a.k.a. compositae, encompassing the aster, the daisy, and the sunflower, and many, many others besides.

nepenthe: a plant of a genus that comprises the Old World pitcher plants, but also drug described in Homer's Odyssey as banishing grief or trouble from a person's mind, which is likely the intended meaning here.

Acherontic: dark and dismal, as the river Acheron in Hades
