Was Rachel Reeves paid to drop the £28bn Green Prosperity Plan?

Has Rachel Reeves been bought off by the climate deniers in order to get her to bin Labour's Green Prosperity Plan?
Right, so while the Guardian over the weekend was busy trying to pin the blame on Jeremy Corbyn for Labour ditching their £28bn Green Prosperity Plan, Labour’s flagship Starmer policy of the last 3 years, as unveiled by Labour’s self-proclaimed ‘Green Chancellor’ Rachel Reeves, it looks like it might be a case of £10K from Labour’s very own climate change denial lobby to Reeves in the form of a donation, just weeks before the policy was formally binned, might be closer to the truth. Before 2022, the donor concerned had apparently never given any money to Reeves, so why have they been gifting to her since and if the convenient timing of their latest donation isn’t begging the question of Reeves: ‘What are they paying for, have they bought the binning of Labour’s green policy? I’m not sure what does.
Right, so Rachel Reeves, that self declared ‘Green Chancellor’ could well be more like the latest example of Party policy being bought and paid for, Labour now equally as bad for this as the Tories are, there really is no difference between them and to people who say to me, Damo, why don’t you bash the Tories more? I say I am, because Labour are Tories, it’s just less obvious and needs pointing out more. If you know the Tories are awful and would never vote for them, why do you need me to tell you that? Labour on the other hand are still viewed as an alternative, when they blatantly aren’t although I’d argue the Gaza situation has opened more people’s eyes to Starmer being no different.
Anyway, in that respect, the open arms to the donors after spurning the members should if anything reinforce that newfound clarity regarding Labour of a great many people.
The story here, the mainstream media have covered this, is that Reeves has received a £10,100 donation from Labour peer Lord Bernard Donoughue, who describes himself as a climate sceptic more than a climate change denier, but has in the past been quoted as saying the climate change debate suffers from ‘scaremongering’ and ‘exaggeration.’ It really doesn’t. In the last 12 months, global warming broke that 1.5C per year increase in global temperatures, weather patterns are being shifted as ice coverage recedes and we see more glacier melt, just as a couple of for instances and it is the biggest crisis of our time. But Donoughue disagrees. He’s said of the move by Reeves:
‘I thought that was a sensible decision in line with the national interest. As someone who’s worked with prime ministers, you can’t have wild spending – you’ve got to have control.
The donation was totally unrelated. I haven’t been involved in those £28bn discussions at all. And quite rightly so.
She needed help staffing her constituency. I think she’s crucial to the Labour Party and the country. She’s so sensible and she’s got such good political and economic judgment.’
Well if that doesn’t call your judgement into question I don’t know what does. Long time viewers of this channel know I’m a carer to two disabled people. Families like mine will never forget what Reeves said about being tougher on benefits than the Tories, especially in light of the deaths that have been caused by the Tory war on the poor.Show more
