The Repentant Warrior

My tribute to all who serve, have and those who lost and still live the nightmares. The people never forgot you, the people will need you or the war is already lost...THE WAR.

The repentant warrior.

(Verse 1)
In a storm of pain, and memories of war,
A face haunted by dreams, forever scarred to the core,
Repentant warrior, left his hate on the battlefield,
Now he commands his heart, takes orders from his soul revealed,
Forgiveness asked from God, a repentant man's plea,
Broken but finally home, oh, the battles he did see.

(Chorus)
But the mirror lies, a face he hardly recognizes,
Sounds of joy bring him sorrow, as he remembers the fallen,
Brothers in arms he lost, his guilt a heavy burden to bear,
Longing to meet them once more, in a world beyond despair.

(Verse 2)
The barrel holds hope, just one more shell for peace,
The noise never seems to cease, his of fire released,
Civilian life is stranger, a world he can't comprehend,
But life returns in the eyes of love, a solace that won't end,
His babies' embrace heals the soul more than words can express,
Horror contained within, brothers that they miss..

(Pre-Chorus)
It's a different story though, once you leave the big show,
left to cry-out in pain, slowly going insane,
Though you served and you bled, so many are dead,
The only thanks that you get, Is "were gonna help all our vets"

(Verse 3)
But still soldiers freeze, standing at ease,
They lied about nam, and nine eleven,
Sent kids to their deaths, laughing as we bled
People spitting at our heads, wishing we were dead,
And as our eyes begin to see, a new reflection can be seen,
a global cult machine, carving off fresh meat!...

(Chorus)
But the mirror lies, a face he cannot recognizes,
Sounds to bare or am I really back here?
Brothers he has lost, his guilt is always there
wishing he had fell, just to be in hell!

Thanks for marching...
But the mirror lies, a face he hardly recognizes,
Sounds of joy bring him sorrow, he remembers the fallen,
Brothers he lost, a heavy burden to bear,
Longing to meet them once more, why'm I still here?

Still the mirror lies, a face he hardly recognizes, He waits for tomorrow,
To stare at the barrel, So remember our brave.., their sacrifices made,
And don't forget t'pray, for the fallen far away.....
