Let's take a look at dogfighting sim Dan Kitchen’s Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter Simulator for the Atari 7800.

It would have been SO COOL if we had a great dogfighting game for the 7800. But we didn’t. We had this.
It certainly tries, but a sophisticated control system and impressive attention to detail can only do so much. A weird decision about time of day, no break between enemy encounters (therefore no time to make changes to loadout), and a really annoying bug that breaks dogfighting ruins the experience.

Playing on the Atari 2600+. No additional enhancements.
