We need the voters to choose our elected officials

In the past, it was the practice of the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, County Office of Education, District Attorney's Office, and Elections Office to appoint their elected officials, who would then run as incumbents in the next election. However, this has led to the selection of unelected bureaucrats instead of representatives chosen by the people.
