Hunt says UK economy 'resilient' after news of recession

British finance minister Jeremy Hunt said on Thursday (February 15) the economy is "more resilient than most people predicted" and that the government had expected growth to be weaker while inflation was prioritized, after data showed Britain's economy had entered a recession in the second half of 2023.
