Valentine’s Day. I have a question for you all of you headbanging parents and grandparents out there. Do kids still ask each other to be their valentine with the cards and candy at school like we did back in the GenX era? Remember those days? Guys and Gals, you had a crush on the top 5 prettiest girls or top 5 most handsome gents in the school and you slipped them a Valentine’s Day card with bravado, but at the end of the day, us boys had about 10% of the card you girls did? I used to and still laugh about that. Ah, metal puppy love. Then we got into middle school and high school in the 80s and it all changed. A day of romance, dinner, movies, the arcades, bonfires, cheap beer, a rock concert, Boone’s Farm, Bartles and Jaymes, Sun Country, and a lotta good lovin’ to be made in the back of cars and pickup trucks. And for us Redneck headbangers, we brought girls out back and lined up everything from water jugs to empty bottles, balloons, fruit and vegetables, cans, and busted caps. All the while wherever we were, whatever we did, heavy metal played a card at the party. Ah, the memories of a GenX Headbanger.

Today, couples are getting away from the traditional Valentine’s Day celebration and many states’ gun ranges are offering Valentine’s Day range days. Just remember, headbangers, the family that shoots together, stays together. Go on, get back to your youthful roots. Break out the old gut rot and have a bonfire, a movie played on the side of a house or a barn to relive the Valentine’s Day $5.00 Carload at the Drive Ins. Relive the glory days. Even now, GenZ and Millennials and GenA, we’re getting older, but reach out to us and we’ll hand you the torch to keep our traditions alive. Our country is bleeding out right now and we need to stop the bleeding. Seeing where my country is, now, breaks my heart. I love my country, I love that I grew up here, in the United States of America and watching our traditions and culture die is the worst thing a citizen can feel. It’s right up there with losing a family member or friend. Let’s not let our Valentine’s Day culture in this great country die. Let’s make Valentine’s Day Great Again!
