Helping offenders understand the impact of their crimes isn’t the only reason Sara Slinker shares her story. She also hopes it will prevent other women from going through what she did. Last year in Indianapolis, 32 women were the victims of criminal homicides. Where motives are known, half have been linked to domestic violence. Nationally, about half of all female homicide victims are killed by an intimate partner.
