The city commission received recommendations this week from the Muskegon Department of Public Safety to make four revisions to the ordinance which took effect in 2019. Those include increasing the fee for registering a home as a short-term rental from 250-dollars to 500-dollars, update the enforcement process for unregistered short-term rentals to allow police to issue infractions a month sooner, increase the fines for registered STRs in violation of the ordinance, and adopt a new STR guide. A vote could happen at the March 12th meeting.
