During a news conference, authorities from Los Angeles County and other jurisdictions disclosed the identities of the two individuals apprehended in connection with a recent shooting.

Capt. Andrew Meyer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed that the suspects, 42-year-old Gary Jonathan Garcia and 20-year-old Wayne McNeely Timberland, are affiliated with a gang and deliberately targeted random individuals.

The shooting incidents occurred in Bell, Huntington Park, Cudahy, and unincorporated Los Angeles on Sunday and Monday, resulting in injuries to four people.

“It appears this was a random murder spree; however, homicide investigators have not ruled anything out,” Meyer said.

While the motive behind the incidents is still unknown, ongoing interviews are being conducted. Capt. Andrew Meyer confirmed that one of the individuals was apprehended in San Bernardino County by deputies, while the other was taken into custody at a residence in Compton by the LASD’s SWAT team.

Although authorities did not specify which individual was the suspected shooter, Meyer noted that Timberland has no criminal history, while Garcia “has an extensive criminal history.”

The weapon allegedly used in the shootings is currently unaccounted for, KTLA5 reported.
