Tomball, Texas — On December 23, 2023, Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies were working an approved extra employment job at a bar and grill in the 23200 block of Tomball Parkway in Northwest Harris County. At approximately 12:50 a.m., the deputies were notified of a disturbance in the parking lot involving several men. Security personnel informed the deputies that one of the men displayed a hand gun and was threatening others with the weapon. The deputies were given a description of the man with the firearm. The deputies then walked outside and located a man matching the suspect's description. The suspect later identified as 24-year-old Chance Roux. The deputies verbally commanded Roux to drop his weapon and show his hands. Roux did not comply with the verbal commands. One Deputy fired his duty weapon several times, striking Roux. The deputies requested EMS and rendered aid until paramedics arrived and took Roux to the hospital for treatment. He was later released and booked into the Harris County Jail.
