It should be obvious that, in order to have an impartial jury, the jurors cannot have a preconceived opinion of the defendant's guilt. And yet, even after the Supreme Court made that clear in Irvin v. Dowd, courts STILL allow jurors to say, "I think he's guilty, but I can be impartial!"
