The street which has the terminal of Krakow's Jan Pawel (John Paul) II Airport on the one side, and a luxurious Hilton hotel on it's other side, is named after Captain Murczyslaw Medwecki, the first pilot killed in the Second World War, the direct comander of the first Polish pilot who shot down German military aeroplanes the same morning (Wladyslaw Gnys'), and a relative of the famous Polish politician and film maker, Grzegorz Braun.
