Five people were hospitalized and 20 are out of a home Monday morning as a fire ripped through a Mount Airy apartment complex. First responders got the call around 3:30 a.m. Monday at Towerview Apartments on Knoll Court, just off West North Bend Road. They arrived to find most of the second and third floors in flames. "You could see the flames shooting from the top of the building, like six feet tall. As firefighters rolled up, the flames were engulfing the third floor," said Jabbara Pates, who helped rescue his neighbors. "One girl said she even jumped from somebody's balcony to another balcony." All five injured are in stable condition, firefighters said.
