WALMART EMPLOYEE GETS CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING AT WORK MULTIPLE TIMES

On 11/11/2021,
Wal-Mart Loss Prevention, found video surveillance footage that showed an employee, Brittany, leaving after her shifts were over with merchandise that she did not pay for.

Suspect was observed leaving with merchandise almost everyday that she had worked over

the last few weeks. On multiple occasions, she left with large boxes that appeared to have

merchandise concealed inside of them.

Officer responded to Wal-Mart this date (11-11-21) to assist with an apprehension in the event that Fields committed another theft from the store this date.

loss prevention saw the suspect stage a box in sporting goods and lost prevention checked the box and saw that some wrapping paper and other small items had been concealed in this box.

the suspect had regularly been leaving out of the TLE (Tire, Lube, Express) doors and Bond watched her on the surveillance monitors while loss prevention and the officer went and waited near the TLE Exit.

Another loss prevention advised that the suspect was leaving with the box and another loss prevention employee and the officer stopped her as she exited the store, passing all points of sale. She could not provide a receipt for any items inside the box.

Officer placed the suspect under arrest.

The box was found to contain $90.47 worth of assorted items.

Officer read Brittany the Miranda Warning and she admitted to taking merchandise from Wal-Mart this date and on several other dates as well.

Suspect was barred from Wal-Mart for two years by Bond and she also had her employment terminated by Stewart (Stewart is also an assistant manager at the store).

Officer had already been shown Evidence that the suspect had regularly been committing thefts at this store. Based on her pattern of repeatedly stealing from this business, officer decided to make a custodial arrest in this case and did not offer pre-arrest diversion and/or simply issue her a citation.

Brittany was transported to CCSO by Officer Odum where she was booked for Theft by Shoplifting (M).

Officer did check her criminal history and the suspect was not found to have any prior arrests.

Officer will review the other shoplifting cases committed by Fields once they have been prepared and deal with those cases at a later date.
