The Most Valuable Thing

“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” Proverbs 23:23

The Word of God is, by far, the most valuable thing this world affords. It turns darkness to light and can turn death into life. In fact, of all the things that the heart of man can desire, there is nothing more dear, more precious or more to be desired than the Word of God. It is the very essence of God. And remember, everything that the Word of God is, Jesus Christ is — because our Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God.

Love the Word of God, meditate on it, memorize it, build your life upon it. Seek after it as the deer panteth after the waterbrooks. Stray not from it to the right hand or to the left. Hide it in your heart always, and hold it in the absolute highest regard, that you might not sin against God, for if you will so do, it will be to you and to your children, and even to your children’s children, the surest source of happiness and blessing conceivable, for it has always been and ever shall be the most valuable thing this world affords.
