Imagine you can apply for a job knowing that whatever level of incompetence you display, however inept you turn out to be at it, however disingenuous your intention or wayward your delivery you will, seemingly invariably, end your career richer and your skill-set, however absent, will turn out to be just the skill-set being sought by a corporation, NGO or media organisation and so your utterly useless career will continue and your bank balance will get bigger. You are imagining being a politician. They don’t want you to point out their failings in case it hurts their feelings but this very fact demonstrates they are unfit people to hold the offices they mistakenly aspired to.
