In Praise of Paprika (2006): RIP Satoshi Kon

Paprika, it's the greatest showtime! Is an excellent film from the late Satoshi Kon which continues to enthrall me everytime I watch it. A very precise, ninety minute film that is jam-packed full of ideas, action and comedic set pieces and genuinely frightening horror (most especially in the third act).

It's a testimony to the great talent we lost far too soon in Kon and also to the incredible genius which is available in the Japanese art scene, be it animation or live action. They're truly a step ahead of Western artists with the exception of a few key players.
