(Quality Friends are Vital in the Ministry)

Text: John 15:9-21
Objective: that the brethren may develop and acquire good friends
in and for the ministry
Intro:
Define – quality, friend, vital, ministry

Who do we make friends with:
1. Children of God – the saved – v.9 – do you have common Father?
2. Faithful Christians - v.10 – “keep my commandments”, keep my saying (v. 20)
3. Gives Joy to the Lord and you – v.11
4. Have genuine Love – vv.12, 17
5. Knows how and Do sacrifice – v.13
a. Doesn’t flippantly select and dismiss - ‘whatsoever’ – v.14
b. Risk the hatred and persecution of those that doesn’t understand – vv. 18-21
c. Their hate is directed to God, don’t make it personal – v.23
6. Knowledgeable and able to do the work of the Lord – ‘made known’ – v.15
a. ‘bear fruit’ – productive not idle – v.16
How to make this quality friends:
7. Be saved, and Abide in the Lord – vv. 1-5 – the Lord is the true vine
a. In His Love – 9
b. In His Word – v.3
8. Be clean, pure– v.3- be a true friend to whoever the Lord gives you opportunity to be
9. Make it the goal to Glorify the Lord – v.8

Message/conclusion:

Let us develop and acquire good friends in and for the ministry which shall greatly help us accomplish the Work of the Lord better
