Emanuel Pastreich declared his candidacy for President of the United States on a COVID-19, 9.11 truth platform in February, 2020 and he has continued his campaign through speeches and other writings ever since. He has recently been discussed as a possible candidate by members of the Green Liberty Caucus of the Green Party US.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, raised in Saint Louis, Missouri, and educated at Yale College, the University of Tokyo, and Harvard University, Pastreich felt early on that Americans must have a deep understanding of Asia to respond to the challenges of the future. He is fluent in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

He started his career as a professor at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1998 and now heads the Asia Institute (asia-institute.org), a think-tank dedicated to promoting constructive cooperation between Asia and the United States.

He is best known in Washington D.C. for advocating a radical redefinition of the concept of security so as to make climate change and the collapse of biodiversity central.
