A South Bend police officer is being hailed as a hero after helping a dog get to safety.
The video comes from body cam footage courtesy of the South Bend Police Department.
A dog was running around the area of Chippewa Bowl when officer Stephanie Northcutt gently approached the dog, safely catching him to remove him from harm’s way.
The officer then held the dog as a bystander helped remove the zip tie from its snout.
The dog was taken to the South Bend Animal Resource Center, which is investigating the matter.
