The Catholic community gathered to say goodbye to a spiritual leader who made a huge difference in the Catholic Church and the Indianapolis Community. The funeral mass for Archbishop Daniel Buechlein was held Wednesday at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral – where he was installed as Archbishop in 1992. Archbishop Buechlein led the Indianapolis Archdiocese for 19 years until a stroke forced him to retire in 2011. During his time in Indianapolis, the Archdiocese’s Catholic School enrollment grew by 30 percent. Archbishop Buechlein died last week at the age of 79.
