Toyota is doing better because they have a much wider world market share now. Toyota sells lots of cars in their own country Japan. Toyota could survive without selling to the American market which is what they were doing before the 1970s but they were nowhere as big now do to the US market. So they can say screw the US Govt. mandates. GM and Ford can't do that. GM and Ford have a restricted market share to sell in Japan because Japan has a limit on the # of US cars they import. Trump didn't like that. This is why Trump was negotiating with Japan to open their markets. US car makers under the thumb of a corrupt US Govt. Japan has more freedom and can bypass the US market, then return once they want to adhere to the mandates.

The US is buying more from Mexico from mostly American owned companies who relocated from America to Mexico to take advantage of the cheap labor. They make a bigger profit making the product in Mexico then they import in back to the US. Even with import fees they make a bigger profit. The losers are still the American workers who are being laid off. It's not just EV sales! Just WHEN will *CAR" companies go back to making CARS again? And FUN CARS at that! Enough of the huge gas guzzling, easy to tip over, boring SUVs and trucks, and go back to building fun to drive sports cars and such like the old Ford Fiesta ST, Focus ST and RS, and similar type CARS! EV's and Hydrogen without infrastructure is junk. Worse, this tech may be consciously pushed to limit the movement of the citizens and drive up costs for industry ( food). Hybrids are the best short term answer until batteries and or hydrogen ( hydrogen is a joke due to the manufacturing costs) the infrastructure is in place. Hybrids get at least a 30% fuel economy with a very small increase in vehicle costs ( about $3000 on a Toyota Corolla). Edison Motors has built a diesel Hybrid logging truck and because it will go up the hill empty and come down full (kinetic energy) it may get as high as 50%. The EPA should be screaming about hybrids, but there are crickets. Plus diesel electric technology goes back to the 40s when trains changed over from steam locomotion. That's 80 years ago, and still the best alternative( hybrids) have not been pushed by the environmentalist's. Neither has the great Greta Thunberg pushed hybrid nor has the Stop Oil crew. As a conclusion, it is not about the environment it is about control and given that the WEF wants a one world government, and they are related to the Rothschild of the private central bank, it would appear that it is the owners of the private central bank desire to create a one world government with them as the leaders and everyone else is slave to their demands.
