In a US drone strike in Baghdad, a senior commander of an Iran-backed militia, along with two guards, was killed.

The leader of Kataib Hezbollah was targeted while traveling in a vehicle in the eastern part of the Iraqi capital, resulting in the deaths of all three individuals.

The Pentagon stated that the commander was responsible for orchestrating attacks on American forces in the region.

The US had previously linked the militia to a drone attack in Jordan that claimed the lives of three US troops the previous month.

In response to that incident, Kataib Hezbollah had announced a suspension of attacks on American troops to avoid causing issues for the Iraqi government, BBC reported.
