Adiabatic Compression

Adiabatic compression refers to the process of compressing a gas or substance without any heat exchange with the surroundings. During adiabatic compression, the system's pressure and temperature increase as the volume decreases. This increase in pressure and temperature occurs because the work done on the system during compression increases the internal energy of the gas, resulting in a rise in temperature without any heat transfer. Adiabatic compression is commonly observed in various natural and industrial processes, such as in the compression stage of a gas turbine or during the upward movement of air in the atmosphere.
