“The Three Stooges were an American vaudeville and comedy team active from 1922 until 1970, best remembered for their 190 short subject films by Columbia Pictures. Their hallmark styles were physical farce and slapstick. Six Stooges appeared over the act's run (with only three active at any given time): Moe Howard (true name (t/n) Moses Horwitz) and Larry Fine (t/n Louis Feinberg) were mainstays throughout the ensemble's nearly 50-year run and the pivotal "third stooge" was played by (in order of appearance) Shemp Howard (t/n Samuel Horwitz), Curly Howard (t/n Jerome Horwitz), Shemp Howard again, Joe Besser and "Curly" Joe DeRita.
The act began in the early 1920s as part of a vaudeville comedy act billed as "Ted Healy and His Stooges", consisting originally of Healy and Moe Howard. Years later, after appearing in several movies, the trio signed on to appear in their own short-subject comedies for Columbia Pictures, now billed as "The Three Stooges". From 1934 to 1946, Moe, Larry and Curly produced over 90 short films for Columbia.”

“Los Tres Chiflados (The Three Stooges en inglés) fue un grupo de actores cómicos estadounidenses activo entre 1922 y 1970, que realizaron 190 cortometrajes para Columbia Pictures, emitidos regularmente por televisión desde 1959. Se caracterizaba por su humor absurdo y el slapstick. Seis integrantes han formado parte del equipo a lo largo de su trayectoria (solamente con tres activos en cualquier periodo): Moe Howard y Larry Fine han sido los miembros que han quedado fijos a lo largo de la carrera del trío de casi 50 años y el pivotal «tercer Chiflado» ha sido interpretado (en orden de aparición) por Shemp Howard, Curly Howard, Shemp Howard nuevamente, Joe Besser, y Joe DeRita.
