When you think of public infrastructure, you probably think of roads, bridges, and possibly water towers. Ever wondered how water towers work?
Water towers receive and store clean water from treatment plants using main pumps. They exert pressure on the water system, allowing distribution to various outlets. A standard tower holds around a million gallons, with variable capacities. Each psi of pressure can raise water about 2.31ft. When water leaves the tower, each foot corresponds to 0.43 psi. For instance, a 100ft water column in a tower can supply 43 psi pressure into the system.
