Lora Ries: Senate Republicans aren’t serious about securing the border

Lora Ries, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, breaks down significant issues with the Senate’s bipartisan border bill. "It would allow and codify 4,000, 5,000, up to 8,500 illegal aliens per day before the Secretary could authorize a border emergency,” Ries says. “And then it has all sorts of exceptions and limitations and suspensions. It renders this authority meaningless. It was the section of the bill that made me the most angry of the 370 pages because they’re just not serious about securing the border. It was pretty clear from that alone.”
