Monday Sermon: Christians waiting for God to do something instead of doing something themselves

I am frequently dismayed when I hear Evangelical Christians apparently waiting for God to intervene in their lives instead of taking charge of their own situations. "It is in God's hands", or "God will deliver", are typical refrains.

I am equally dismayed when I see Christians habitually injecting the "Jesus drug" in the false belief that Jesus is a mood enhancing medicine.

These are dis-empowering cognitive distortions.
