Orthodox Voices v the Brethren or, Where Justice Forgot Mercy

For far too long, voices of the more orthodox or conservative type, myself included, have pointed out that The Brethren seem to preach one gospel at the pulpit during conference or some other occasion, but then seem not to notice when the church acts, or signals something seemingly contrary.
Such voices might think to consider the story of the woman taken in adultery and consider the fine line our authorities walk between justice and mercy.
