Unveiling the Extraordinary Black hole

This is the first image of a black hole at the centre of the galaxy M87, taken using the Earth-sized, virtual Event Horizon Telescope. A black hole is a dense, compact object with such a strong gravitational pull that nothing, even light, can escape within a specific distance of it. Black holes are hypothesized to form from the implosion of huge stars near the end of their existence. As matter falls in from all sides, it compresses the dying star to zero volume and infinite density, known as the singularity.
