Did Israel just bomb Belgium’s Gaza offices out of spite over UNRWA?

The aid agency offices of Belgium in Gaza City have all of a sudden been hit following thier continued support for UNRWA. Coincidence?
Right, so Israel have just bombed Belgian property in the Gaza Strip and when it comes hot on the heels of Belgium committing to continuing to fund UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, it does seem like a revenge attack for Belgium refusing to go along with whatever Israel demand as other countries can’t fall over themselves fast enough to do just that. UNRWA have existed since 1949, look after the needs of some 6 million displaced Palestinians right now across Gaza, the West Bank and other nations in the Middle East too, yet face financial ruin, along with the cost in human life that will result in, because of accusations, already crumbling, by Israel that some of their workers in Gaza, 4 individuals as it stands amongst a workforce there of 15,000, helped Hamas on the night of October 7th. That weak, evidenceless, Israel’s word for it only accusation has been enough for 16 countries to defund UNRWA entirely, something Israel would dearly love to see as they see them as the barrier between Palestinians staying in their lands or voluntarily leaving, unable to survive there. So this strike against Belgium by Israel? Well you might not have heard about it because the mainstream media have ignored it, but that’s likely because whatever level of justification you might see Israel as having, attacking foreign owned property in the Strip is going to be a hard one to defend yourself against.
Right, so what’s happened to Belgium then Damo? Well, on the 1st of February, Israel bombed the offices of the Belgian Agency for Development Cooperation in Gaza. This was a six storey building that stood in the Al-Rimal district of frankly what was left of Gaza City in the north of the Gaza Strip. You might be surprised that anything frankly is still standing there nearly 4 months into this genocide, but that also somewhat underlines the possible and certainly right now discussed motive Israel might have had to hit that building now, especially when they are supposedly focussed in southern Gaza in Khan Younis, and planning on hitting Rafah on the border with Egypt left, where all displaced Palestinians have been sent with nowhere else to go.
The Belgian offices there housed two entities there, the Belgian development agency Enabel and a non governmental organisation called Humanity & Inclusion. To give you an idea of what they’re about, Enabel’s mission statement reads:
‘Enabel is the development agency of the Belgian federal government, implementing Belgium’s international development policy.
Under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we carry out public service assignments in Belgium and abroad.
We provide customised expertise, including Belgian public expertise, we promote the involvement of all partners and we pursue top-level partnerships.
Enabel also enhances the impact of Belgium in international development by carrying out assignments for Belgian and international third-party commissioners.’Show more
