Ingredients:
For the Potatoes:
4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges or cubes
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
Salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, grated
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 large bell pepper (capsicum), thinly sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili sauce (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon honey or sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Spring onions, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
Frying the Potatoes:
Coat Potatoes:
In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Toss the potato wedges or cubes in this mixture until well coated.
Fry Potatoes:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat. Fry the coated potatoes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Preparing the Sauce:
Sauté Aromatics:
In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Sauté until aromatic.
Add Bell Pepper:
Add thinly sliced bell pepper (capsicum) to the pan and cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
Make the Sauce:
In the pan, add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, honey (or sugar), salt, and pepper. Mix well to form a sauce.
Combine with Potatoes:
Add the fried potatoes to the sauce in the pan. Toss the potatoes until they are well coated with the sauce.
Garnish and Serve:
Garnish the Chilli Potatoes with chopped spring onions.
Serve Hot:
Serve the Chilli Potatoes hot as an appetizer or a delicious snack.
Tips:
Adjust the spice levels by varying the amount of chili sauce according to your taste.
You can add a pinch of red chili flakes for extra heat if desired.
If you prefer a saucier version, you can increase the quantity of the sauce ingredients.
