6th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. Mourning over Sin is Part of Repentance - Micah 1:8-9
* A. Micah mourns for his own sins and the sins of his nation
* 1. He enters into the suffering of the northern Kingdom
* 2. He wails for his own people the southern Kingdom
* B. Jesus promised blessed are those who mourn - Matthew 5:4
* 1. Mourning for sin is only one part of repentance 
* a. Full repentance means a change of mind and heart that produces a change of behavior
* b. Restoration of relationships requires full repentance
* 2. The first words of the Gospel preached by Jesus was Repent and Believe - Mark 1:15

II. Mourning Involves Recognizing the Extensive Consequences of Sin - Micah 6:10-11
* A. The enemies of God think that their idols brought the disaster upon the people of God
* 1. The reality is that God disciples those who are His own Hebrews 12:5-8
* 2. Those without any discipline in their life are not sons and daughters of God
* B. ‘House of Dust’, roll in the dust 
* 1. Dust or ashes on the head is a sign of mourning - Job 42:6
* 2. Prophecy of Christ on the cross - Psalm 22:15
* C. The Town ‘Beautiful’ is shamed by captivity
* D. The Town of ‘Going Out’ doesn’t go out
* 1. The inability to move about freely 
* 2. Complete loss of the freedom of travel
* E. The ‘House of Root’ will be displaced
