Why God Hates Pride by Pastor Adam Martin

"Only by pride cometh contention..." —Proverb 13:10

Proverb:8:13: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverb:11:2: When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverb:16:18: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverb:29:23: A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Mankind is wicked, filled with sinful pride. More people have chosen the road to hell because of pride than for any other reason. It is man's pride that causes him to adhere to traditions and false religions instead of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is pride that causes all the divorces. It is pride that causes people to live in sin. Pride destroys marriages, homes, business partnerships, churches, and anything else it comes in contact with. America is a land of sinful arrogant, stick-necked pride. America's women are the most rebellious, stubborn and feminist women on the planet. No wonder the divorce rate is increasingly sky-rocketing. It's become so bad that now more and more couples won't even get married. They simply live together until pride sets in and then move on to greener pastures to repeat the cycle.

Psalms:10:4: The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

It is man's pride that causes him not to seek after God. All evolutionists have sinful pride. All Christ-rejecters have sinful pride.

The wicked have no need for God, they despise God and all that is good. The world is a wicked place (1st John 5:19).

Pride is worse than cancer, eating away all sense of moral reasoning and ethics. People filled with pride will stoop lower than low, hurting even their own spouse or family. It's horribly sad how people who once made their marriage vows can simply break them by divorcing. Divorce is a sin and God hates it. By the way, I don't care what anyone thinks...most divorces are the result of a proud wife. Too many wives in America are spoiled, refusing to deal with an overbearing husband. God created men to dominate, to conquer, to rightfully defend and protect what is his. A man by nature has a God-given desire to CONTROL what's his (his wife, his kids, his land, his money, etc.).

Most women refuse to be controlled, they are rebellious! God hates rebellion. I'm not advocating spousal abuse, I'm simply saying a lot of women hate authority (especially if it's her husband). Though some women would like to blame this on an "authoritarian" type father, the truth is that we are all rebellious against God in our sinful hearts (Ephesians 2:2). Mankind by nature hates authority. No one likes to be told what to do, just like Eve in the garden of Eden. She "did her own thing" and God punished her for it. She caused Adam to also sin because he loved Eve and wanted to be with her.

We are all rebellious by nature.

You'll discover that women who hate their husbands also hate God. Say what you will, God did not create man and woman equal...the wife is the weaker vessel according to the Bible.

Proverb:14:1: Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

I've written this article with the divorce rate in mind. There is nothing in America which is more damning to our nation than divorce. The billions of dollars made by the lawyers, judges and legal system from divorces is so evil. I would never be part of a divorce. Divorce is a sin! Jesus never advocated divorce. Hebrews 13:5 promises that God will NEVER leave or forsake us...no matter what we do! What a wonderful Saviour. I'm glad that Jesus never leaves. I hate divorce, it is nothing more than wicked pride! For better, for worse; in sickness, as in health; 'til death do us part! The wedding vows are a PROMISE to God.

Anyone can live with anybody if they can learn to be a nobody.

Galatians 6:3, "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."
