Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, finely diced
1 celery stalk, finely diced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup red wine (optional)
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for cooking
1 lb spaghetti
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions:
Sauté Aromatics:
In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the finely chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil until softened.
Brown Ground Beef:
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Add Vegetables:
Incorporate finely diced carrot and celery into the meat mixture, cooking until the vegetables are tender.
Tomato Base:
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine (if using). Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes.
Season and Simmer:
Season the sauce with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Pour in beef broth, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for at least 30-40 minutes to enhance flavors.
Cook Spaghetti:
Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente.
Combine and Serve:
Drain the spaghetti and combine it with the Bolognese sauce. Toss until the pasta is well-coated.
Garnish and Serve:
Serve the Classic Spaghetti Bolognese hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh basil.
