Arrest of registered violent sexual predator in Port Orange

Body camera footage shows the moment a “registered violent sexual predator” tried to run from Florida police after giving them a false name during a traffic stop on Monday.

According to the Port Orange Police Department, around 11:49 a.m., officers were advised to be on the lookout for a white, older model Lexus, as the owner of the vehicle had an open warrant.

A few minutes later, Port Orange County Office Reahl quickly located the vehicle at a 7-Eleven gas pump.

Body camera footage shows Officer Reahl asking the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Sean Gary Hendershot, for his name. Police said Hendershot gave the officer a false name before he took off, running barefoot from the officer.

“Stop running, man. You’re not going to outrun me, alright,” Officer Reahl can be heard saying.

He was caught shortly after.

According to police, it was later discovered that Hendershot had multiple warrants in both St. Lucie and Dixie County for violating his sexual offender probation after he failed to report his change of residence.

The 57-year-old was charged with providing a false name and resisting arrest, police said.
