Storm Shield Forecast morning update 1/25/18

A cold front pushing through Kern County this morning brings scattered showers and mountain flurries, with a cold wind kicking up mid-day to push the last of the rain out this afternoon. There could be some lingering showers in the foothills after sunset, and by then the air is cold enough to drop the snow level down to 3,500 feet, but most of the moisture is gone so I believe it won't lead to accumulating snowbut rather icy conditions on the passes through tomorrow morning. So expect a high of 58 in Bakersfield this afternoon with moderate air quality improving throughout the day. So there are no restrictions but burning is discouraged. The Kern River Valley will top out in the upper 40s this afternoon while the mountains will see the low 40s and then fall to the 20s overnight.
